Abbey – adopted Sept 22 2012
We loved 7 month old Abbey the first time we saw her at her foster home. A week later we took our new “baby” home. She settled in straight away. We have now had her for 6 months.
Abbey quickly learned the household routines from our other 2 dogs – Charlie, our 12 year old Dalmatian and Zeb our 6 year old Collie cross. Our 2 cats showed her who was boss 1 and boss 2 in the home and she accepted her place. only occasionally forgetting and needing a gentle “claw” reminder!
Abbey developed a very close bond with Zeb and they are now inseparable. Charlie is glad that he longer has to play with Zeb all the time and is loving his retirement.
We live on a 4ha bush block in the Waitakeres so our dogs get lots of walks in the bush and trips to Bethells Beach. Abbey was a bit cautious in the surf when we first took her down but she quickly learned from Charlie & Zeb that it was fun. She is now the champion ball retriever on the sand and in the water and she hopes to learn to surf next Summer!
Abbey is a real treasure and we are so glad that we checked out the Humane Society website and found her.
