DIXIE is a 9 year old huntaway x collie, recently rescued by the Humane Society. We have had senior bloods done for her, and all is well.
She is a lovely quiet girl who gets on well with other dogs but would do better with an older one around her age if she was a secondary one.
She hates fireworks so would need to be kept indoors when they are being used at any time.
She has been fine with the staunch resident cat in our foster home but may well run after a scaredy cat.
When we go for a walk she does bark a lot for no reason – just the huntaway in her!
She loves people, has had some training and is very well behaved.
She gets very stressed when out and about and would do better on a farm lifestyle block or with another dog of similar age where she could just enjoy her retirement and not have to venture into the busy world too much.
She would love a home with a retired person or couple who could spend time with her and be at home most of the time.
DIXIE has been vet-checked, spayed, vaccinated microchipped and is currently registered so we ask a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.
Her new owner must have a securely fenced property as per above, which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to her being released to her new home.
You will also need to meet her at our foster home in Manurewa as we WILL NOT send dogs anywhere and must meet all prospective owners.
Our aim is to adopt each dog to a compatible owner. The Humane Society reserves the right to decline any dog adoption application at its discretion.
